were organized in 1962 as an affiliate of CalRTA. Currently, we
have a membership of 391 with most of them living within earshot
of the chimes from the Campanile on the U.C. Campus. Who is CalRTA? The California
Retired Teachers Association was founded in 1929 in
Pasadena. The State Association has grown to about
50,000. It has 87 divisions spanning California. With an active grassroots program and an excellent Legislative
Advocate (David Walrath) working at the federal and state level, we have become the dominant authoritative force protecting and enhancing our retirement benefits. For
more information about what CalRTA does to support retired teachers and
public education move your mouse to the upper left column and
click the links to CalRTA and Area 4. At
the area and division level, as indicated by the Help for Seniors
link, we are committed to assisting our fellow retirees . Personal Interest Web Surfing If you have some spare time, you may want to visit
the Leisure Pursuits links. In particular the Daily News link
provides an excellent source of local, California, national, and
international links which enable you to keep updated and to
pursue stories of personal interest. What Do We Do in Divison 49? We
do enjoy retirement! Locally, we have
events such as luncheon meetings to provide
opportunities for fellowship and fun. To
find out more about our Berkeley Division check out
our newslettter link in the left

Social Security Fairness The Social Security Fairness Committee is dedicated to informing the public about the WEP and GPO
provisions of social security that adversely impacts the income of
thousands of retired educators and public workers in 14 states
including California. It, CalRTA, and other major
associations are in a Coalition working hard to get Congress to pass a
bill to eliminate these unfair penalties. For more information and a
